
Introducing the Strait of Messina Bridge
The world's longest suspension bridge is to be built between Sicily and the Italian mainland.
The Strait of Messina Bridge will span 3,666 metres with a central suspended span of 3,300 meters long, making it the longest suspension bridge in the world.
The deck, approximately 60 meters wide, will have three vehicle lanes in each direction, two rail lines and two service lanes.
It will be built by the Eurolink consortium, led by Italian company WeBuild, supported by IHI of Japan and Sacyr of Spain.
