Maximising productivity

Having dependable power that can meet the required duty cycles of applications is integral for all customers when deciding power solutions. Cummins has always created solutions that meet this criteria, with the latest series of Stage V Performance Series diesel engines exemplifying this.

The Cummins Stage V Performance Series has high power density capabilities across a 55-503 kW (74-675 hp) range, reaching a maximum high peak torque curve of 2,508 Nm. This latest generation of diesel offers potential downsizing options, enabling OEMs to do more with less without compromising productivity, enabling reductions in fuel usage, running costs and emissions.

These relatively simple, lightweight engines and aftertreatment systems are less complex than alternative solutions, allowing for low installation costs and high reliability over a long engine life. This simplicity and ease of service enables a low cost of operation, with Cummins installation expertise available to ensure ease of integration. Power unit packages within this range are also available to customers, with the full system fully warranted by Cummins.

Maximising Customer Uptime and reducing total cost of ownership

The latest range of Cummins Performance Series engines operate with service intervals of up to 1,000 hours, but to ensure Cummins power solutions operate to the best of their ability throughout their lifespan, Cummins has a number of solutions in place to reduce downtime and total cost of ownership for customers.

Across the world, Cummins highly skilled technicians are available to support customer on-site needs as required. Offering comprehensive, high quality service cover that includes replacement engine options that give the operator, the opportunity to keep their current equipment performing as it should while providing a cost-effective alternative that minimises downtime. In addition to this, Cummins Connected Solutions is a key enabler in improving operational efficiency and reducing cost of ownership for machines on construction sites. With sites operating mixed fleets, managers need a solution that is compatible across all of their machinery.

Cummins extended warranties are available for additional protection should customers wish to use them, as well as Service Agreement options that protect assets with regular, preventative maintenance, reducing the potential for extended periods of equipment downtime.

Minimising Environmental Impacts

Site manager and operators can improve their environmental impact now using this latest generation of diesel engines. The Cummins Performance Series engines meet Stage V near-zero levels of NOx and PM emissions. They have lower noise, improving site sociability. The benefit of higher fuel efficiency lowers running costs as well as CO2 emissions. Stop-Start capability can be selected to offer higher efficiency, lower fuel costs and low noise in urban settings.

These engines can use renewable fuels such as bio-diesel and HVO, enabling further sustainability benefits for the user.

Connected Diagnostics can also deliver efficiencies for equipment in the field, enabling better asset management, higher availability, faster service response and reduced operating costs.

The Future

Cummins are investing in a wide range of power solutions to support the future of the industry as it looks to decarbonise and reduce onsite emissions. Due to the wide variety of machinery types, operations and duty cycles it is clear one solution will not be viable, and a range of power options is needed. Compact equipment with lighter-duty cycles such as mini-excavators and loaders are more suited for battery electric solutions, whereas other solutions such as hydrogen engines and fuel cells will be needed as a long-term solution for heavy-duty applications. In the meantime, the flexibility and cost effectiveness of clean diesel across a wide range of duty cycles and machine types means it will remain a key power source within construction for many years to come.
