Based just outside Leicester, Merriman provide a broad range of services on sites and projects across the UK but is particularly strong in the Midlands.

Earthworks and Remediation

Merriman Remediation is the oldest division of the business and has evolved from a heavy civil engineering and earthworks contractor to meet the changing needs of the market.

It established its name in plant hire and earthworks during the 1950s, was a pioneer in motorway construction in the 60s, and then applied its experience to large scale open cast mining. Today the company offers all types of land remediation, land preparation and quarrying services and is still run by Merriman family members.

This very experienced team has handled every land situation from initial advice to assist with budgets and appraisals, advice to mitigate abnormal costs, foundation design solutions, remediation strategies and material management plans through to full remediation and validation.

Plant Hire

Merriman have expanded our range of services recognising the need for a diverse modern fleet with experienced operators, with a flexible support team to ensure contracts are kept on track.

Our fleet equipment is available for hire across the UK, on both short and long-term hire basis. From excavators, dumptrucks, dozers and a variety of ancillary equipment including bowsers, accommodation and Hiab services for lifting and moving equipment anywhere in the UK.

Our plant hire service provides you with peace of mind, we provide a flexible, reliable service maintained by our in house team.

Plant can be hired with a Merriman 'operative' or on a self-drive basis. All our operators are fully ticketed to drive and service machines. We can also provide a facility to maintain and service your plant and equipment on site either on a one-off basis or on contract.

Land

Merriman has many years' experience in developing land either through acquisition, contract or partnership.

The team puts together a master plan for the land and development, and promotes this through the planning system. This can be Merriman land; land on behalf of developers, or land included within a joint venture partnership.

Depending on a site’s individual circumstances, on receipt of planning permission Brownfield sites then be remediated by the Merriman team to provide a site ready for development.

In simple terms, Merriman Land secures the site; promotes it; remediates it and then either sells it or builds on it.

A key benefit that Merriman provides within this process is to maximise the development potential of the land, and it is always looking out for new opportunities to work with landowners or investment partners.
