The Role
Our client is seeking a Transport Planner at Consultant or Senior Consultant level to join their Surrey-based team. The role will involve leading and contributing to a wide range of development-focused transport planning projects, supporting planning applications and providing technical input from feasibility through to delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for a transport planner looking to take on greater responsibility, develop client-facing skills and progress within a supportive consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and manage Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
Undertake and review junction modelling and analysis (e.g. Junctions 9/10, LinSig, PICADY/ARCADY)
Analyse traffic, pedestrian and cycle survey data and present findings clearly
Provide transport input to planning applications and appeal work
Liaise directly with clients, local highway authorities, architects and project teams
Support and lead site feasibility studies and access strategy development
Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members (Senior level)
Contribute to project management, programme delivery and fee proposals
Attend and represent the company at client and design team meetings
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
Proven experience within a transport planning consultancy or similar environment
Good understanding of the UK planning system and development control process
Experience preparing technical transport reports for planning applications
Strong written, analytical and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
Experience with industry-standard modelling software (e.g. LinSig, AutoCAD)
Experience managing smaller projects or workstreams independently
Experience across residential and mixed-use development projects
