The Thornbridge timber merchants in Ayr was one of the sites that closed when parent company National Timber Group (NTG) fell into administration in November.
Huws Gray has now acquired the site from the administrators, securing jobs and with further recruitment anticipated in the coming months.
Eddie Hernon, managing director at PDM Huws Gray, said: 鈥淔ollowing our recent investment in our flagship timber mill in Grangemouth, the expansion of our timber merchanting capabilities is a key strategic focus for Huws Gray in Scotland.
鈥淎fter the news surrounding NTG broke in November, we began exploring how this opportunity could be realised, and I鈥檓 delighted that we have now agreed to take on the lease of this impressive Ayr site.鈥
The branch will continue to be managed by Lynne Douglas and her team. She said: 鈥淭he team has built strong, long-standing relationships with our local customer base, and we鈥檙e delighted to be able to continue supporting them.
鈥淎s part of the wider Huws Gray business, we鈥檙e now even better positioned to enhance the customer experience, with access to a broader product range and additional support. I鈥檓 also really looking forward to working with our new colleagues.鈥
Hernon concluded: 鈥淲hile continuity of service for existing customers remains our immediate priority, we鈥檙e equally committed to enhancing the overall offering at Ayr. We鈥檒l be reviewing how we can meaningfully expand the product range, and customers can expect to see new lines introduced over the coming months.鈥
