Layton becomes CECE president

Phil Layton has this month started a two-year term as president of the Committee for European ɫèֱ Equipment (CECE), which is the pan-European representative body for machinery manufacturers..

Layton is technical service director at JCB but takes the CECE role as a representative of the ɫèֱ Equipment Association (CEA), the UK member of CECE.

As CECE president, Layton is expected to focus on advancing the sector’s contribution to decarbonisation, supporting global trade and ensuring a competitive regulatory framework for construction equipment manufacturers across Europe.

“The European construction equipment industry needs clear, workable rules and a strong global outlook,” he said. “CECE has a vital role to play in supporting decarbonisation, open markets and innovation, while providing policymakers with practical, industry-driven solutions.”

Among CECE’s main policy goals is to press the European Commission in moving forward with two long-awaited initiatives: secondary legislation on the road circulation of construction machinery and guidance document for the implementation of the Machinery Regulation.

This year the the CECE congress, which will take place in London from 27-29 October.
