Murphy adds electric diggers to its fleet

2 days Civil engineering contractor Murphy has invested in a pair of battery-powered 23-tonne excavators.

Murphy has purchased two Chinese-made Sany SY215E excavators that are powered by cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate batteries, manufactured by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (CATL)

According to Sany, the battery can last six to eight hours with a one-hour charging capability to 80%.

Murphy’s plant and transport managing director, Brendan Sugrue, said: “At Murphy, we are dedicated to improving operational efficiency and sustainability amongst our plant equipment. We proactively seek out solutions with low energy consumption and limited CO2 emissions. These new Sany excavators, which produce zero emissions, align perfectly with our ever-growing range of environmentally friendly plant ܾ賾Գ.”
