Sellafield awards £4.6bn framework

31 Oct 25 AtkinsRéalis and Altrad are among a select group of companies set to share billions of pounds worth of work at Sellafield over the next 15 years.

Sellafield Ltd has awarded a framework with a maximum value of 拢4.6bn to support high hazard risk reduction programmes on the Sellafield site in Cumbria, through the Decommissioning & Nuclear Waste Partnership (DNWP).

The framework agreement will be in place for up to 15 years. DNWP will support activities related to retrieving waste materials from the site鈥檚 oldest facilities as well as treating and storing those materials and decommissioning redundant assets.

DNWP will replace and build on the past capabilities delivered through the existing Design Services Alliance (DSA) and the Decommissioning Delivery Partnership (DDP) ahead of their expiry.

The confirmed winners of the four lots are:

Lot 1: Remediation

  • A2R (AtkinsR茅alis and Altrad Support Services)
  • Amentum (founded in 2020 as a spin-out of the management services group of Aecom)

Lot 2: Retrievals

  • The Decommissioning Alliance (AtkinsR茅alis, Amentum and Westinghouse Electric Company UK)

Lot 3: Retrievals

  • Nuclear Decommissioning Solutions (Altrad Support Services, Cavendish Nuclear and Shepley Engineers)

Lot 4: Integrated nuclear waste partner

  • A2R (AtkinsR茅alis and Altrad Support Services)
