Senior promotions at Barhale

3 hours Civil engineering contractor Barhale has given added responsibilities to three of its senior staff.

Phil Cull, Shane Gorman and Daniel Meadowcroft

Barhale chief executive Martin Brown has promoted Phil Cull from southern regional director to a new role as national executive director.

Cull has led Barhale’s southern region operations since joined the company in 2013. He will now be on Barhale’s strategic board of directors.

Cull’s previous responsibilities are being split between Shane Gorman and Daniel Meadowcroft.

Shane Gorman has been promoted from water director to southern region director – infrastructure. Gorman joined Barhale in 2005 as a senior engineer from Aecom and has progressed through a series of leadership roles, most recently becoming water director in 2022.

Daniel Meadowcroft, currently ‘projects director, southern region’, has been promoted to the rather similar sounding ‘southern region director – projects’. Meadowcroft joined Barhale in 2020 as regional manager after 22 years with McNicholas; he was appointed projects director in 2022.

Both Gorman and Meadowcroft will join the operations board and report to James Ingamells, the newly appointed chief operating executive.

Chief executive Martin Brown said the appointments recognised both the contribution of the individuals and the company’s approach to investing in its people.

“All three appointments are internal promotions,” he said. “That is important to us because it demonstrates our commitment to nurturing internal talent and creating opportunities for progression across the organisation. It is also a recognition of the work that has gone into building clear, long-term career pathways for our people.”
